Padme Amidala's Wardrobe: My Favorites Part 2

Padme Amidala's Wardrobe: My Favorites Part 2 | Anakin And His Angel

In Part 1 of my Padme Amidala's Wardrobe series I shared my two favorite outfits Padme wore in The Phantom Menace where she was seen in about a dozen different looks. Did you know that in Attack of the Clones she has even more outfits? Sixteen to be exact! That includes her Senate gown (deleted scene), her Coruscant nightgown, the robe she wore on Naboo, the blue dress she wore when her and Anakin visited her family in a deleted scene, and her patterned coat on Tatooine. Choosing only a couple of outfits from the first Prequel film was so much easier than this one! But I think I've got it down to two!

LAKE COUNTRY DRESS

"The ombréd full-length bias-cut silk chiffon and sand-washed silk satin dress is held at the neck and arms by a hand-cut abalone shell collar piece and arm cuffs. The chiffon overdress is gathered at the hem, front, and back into mother-of-pearl shell and vintage-beaded tasseled clasps. The colors of the dress start at the hem in smoky lilac and progress through pinks and oranges to the palest yellow at the neck. The headdress was formed in the shape of the ridges of a conch shell in seven graded bands, and was made using Flexicast with powdered dye mixed through, and then hand-painted."

I love everything about this dress from the colors to the way the chiffon and satin fabric sways with every step. It's very feminine and delicately draped, but it also has an incredible statement halter neckline. I think the entire ensemble perfectly reflects the beauty of Padme's home on Naboo. No wonder Anakin couldn't help but kiss her, she was glowing from head to toe! She was more than ever, his angel. After this tender but awkward moment, little did they know that they were past the point of no return. Captain Typho was concerned Padme might "do something" on their trip whilst Obi-wan was hoping his Padawan wouldn't "try something foolish". Who do you think was right? Or were they both right?

MEADOW PICNIC DRESS

"Silk cloqué bodice with seven-color computerized filigree embroidery with bled stitching. The roses were taken from the tulle and appliquéd on top to unite the two fabrics. The bodice is worn over an old-gold silk organza blouse with multicolored ribbon detail around the lower sleeves."

I believe the first time I saw this gown was when the poster "A Jedi shall not know anger. Nor anger. Nor love." was released. To this day it's still one of my favorite Star Wars posters. It's haunting, but beautiful and I love the every-day-attire Anakin and Padme are wearing. And that is one of the reasons this dress is my favorite. It's much more relaxed but still very feminine with the floral theme and ribbons wrapped around her wrists and laying against her curled hair. I also love that the headpiece pays homage to Princess Leia's buns! Its easy to get around in which made it perfect for their private picnic. During this scene in Attack of the Clones we see Anakin and Padme talking, laughing, and flirting. For the first time, as young adults, they are truly comfortable in each other's company. It's definitely one of those fun and memorable moments in their relationship.

I hope you have been enjoying the series thus far! Stay tuned for Part 3 which will feature outfits from Revenge of the Sith.
