Upcoming Star Wars Movies & Series

What's next for Star Wars? A lot! This might be premature to write this blog pre-Star Wars Celebration Japan, as we're expecting more announcements to come out of that event, but with so many rumors floating around, I want to set the records straight. This list includes only the facts about the movies and series we can look forward to.

STAR WARS: YOUNG JEDI ADVENTURES SEASON 2

The final episodes of Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures Season 2 will debut on Disney+ and Disney Jr. on March 19th! This was announced by StarWars.com just last month.

If you've never seen this series, it takes place during the High Republic era and focuses on important lessons targeted towards younglings. My favorite character is Nubs!

ANDOR SEASON 2

The final season of Andor will air with three episodes on Disney+ Tuesday, April 22nd. Tony Gilroy, creator and executive producer, shared with the official Star Wars website, "...this season will follow Cassian's journey in the four years leading up to the events of Rogue One, with the 12 episode story unfolding in four weekly chapters of three episodes each."

This will be the very first time any Star Wars series has released 3 episodes per week throughout the season. It'll be a short but riveting experience, I''m sure! There are two things I keep wondering about; the moment Cassian and K-2S0 meet and what it will feel like, and the very last shot of the series.

STAR WARS: VISIONS VOLUME 3

It was officially announced last November that Star Wars: Visions Volume 3 would be coming to Disney+ in 2025. There will be nine new shorts from nine different anime studios. I'm sure we'll hear more about what's to come at Star Wars Celebration Japan.

The very first episode in Volume 1 entitled, The Duel, is my absolute favorite! I'll be curious to see if an episode from Volume 3 will top it.

THE MANDALORIAN & GROGU MOVIE

This is the next big Star Wars film that is coming to theaters on May 22nd, 2026, which was officially announced at D23 Brazil last November. The Mandalorian & Grogu is directed by Jon Favreau, and produced by Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, and Dave Filoni. StarWars.com revealed that Sigourney Weaver is joining Pedro Pascal on this new adventure!

Watching Star Wars on the big screen is one of my favorite experiences. Grogu at the theater will be cuteness overlaod. I am ready!

STANDALONE STAR WARS MOVIE

Shawn Levy is directing a standalone Star Wars movie that will take place about five or six years after The Rise of Skywalker. Kathleen Kennedy shared with Deadline, "...it's all pretty much new characters. We may bring some of the characters from the Sequel Saga, but pretty much new characters."

Sequel Saga characters you say? I'm intrigued! And no, there is no official announcement about Ryan Gosling starring in this movie. Does it mean he won't be part of it? No. But it's just a rumor at this point.

AHSOKA SEASON 2

Although there is no time-frame of when we can expect to see Ahsoka Season 2, Dave Filoni, the creator of the series, told Extra (2:09) last December that he's been working on writing it! Much earlier in the year, we also got this sketch from Dave Filoni (pictured above) featuring Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren.

I'm still in shock, and will forever be grateful that the first season exists. In interviews, Hayden Christensen always seems to be more than happy to return for future Anakin/Vader appearances, so I hope that he'll be back for this!

REY'S MOVIE

Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is directing the movie that Rey is staring in. It'll take place after the events of The Rise of Skywalker and focus on Rey building a new Jedi Order. There's been setbacks with writer changes but Daisy Ridley has expressed herself that everything is going well and the script is being written. She is aware and excited about what the story entails!

I'm overjoyed that Rey is returning, and I hope we'll also see Finn and Poe join her! I think that there are extraordinary opportunities for this movie.

PREQUEL MOVIE

James Mangold is directing a Prequel movie that will return to the dawn of the Jedi. In fact, he told Empire Magazine, "It takes place about 25,000 years before Episode IV." He also mentioned that it's about "the discovery of the Force". Kathleen Kennedy shared just yesterday with Deadline, "He's working on the script right now."

We hardly know anything about it but it already sounds fascinating to me!

NEW REPUBLIC MOVIE

Besides, Ahsoka Season 2, and other projects that I'm sure he is working on, Dave Filoni's movie is focused on the New Republic and will "close out interconnected stories told in The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and other Disney+ series." according to the official Star Wars website.

It's a ton of fun when our favorite characters join each other on screen, and this sounds like it could be the biggest gathering of them yet! The description alone is giving Avengers: Endgame vibes.

NEW STAR WARS TRILOGY

Simon Kinberg, who worked on Star Wars Rebels and The Force Awakens, is now working on his own Star Wars Trilogy that will be the new Saga that moves Star Wars into the future. Kathleen Kennedy told Deadline, "We're absolutely rolling fast and furiously. That has gone exceptionally well, and he's (Simon) literally going to script as we speak. We'll see something probably in June."

It's been 6 years since the Sequel Trilogy concluded. I don't know if I expected another Star Wars trilogy so soon but I am here for it!

To my knowledge and research, that's everything that is already finished and waiting to be released or is currently being worked on in some capacity. Of course, there's the Lando Movie that Donald and Stephen Glover are writing but I haven't seen any news of that in a while. Kathleen Kennedy also mentioned waiting for Taiki Waititi in her interview with Deadline (a must read btw) stating that he's very busy but that he is working with another writer. Lastly, Patty Jenkins told The Hollywood Reporter in March of 2024 that she was back to working on a draft for Rogue Squadron. I guess we'll see what happens!

If you think I missed something, please feel free to reach out. Which of these are you the most excited about? You can leave a comment below or get in touch with me on Instagram, X, Threads or Bluesky.
