Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge - Vi Moradi Leaving Batuu West

If you hadn't heard, Batuu West will be undergoing a timeline expansion on April 29th, which will take place between Return of the Jedi and The Mandalorian. I am very excited to experience the new changes, particularly witnessing Darth Vader on Batuu. What a sight that will be!

After the announcement of the new characters and the list of old characters who would remain on the planet, I was immediately worried about Boba Fett and Vi Moradi, as they were not mentioned. I had the opportunity to ask about these characters in January, and I was told that schedules were still being worked out.

As of this week, we now know that Vi Moradi will be leaving for "a new mission outside of Batuu". My friend Mars decided to ask Vi directly during his visit, and this is what she shared with him.

Vi Moradi made her first appearance in Phasma, a 2017 novel written by Delilah S. Dawson, who fans got to see come to life two years later when Galaxy's Edge opened on May 31, 2019. Much like Dok Ondar, and Oga, she has truly felt like a Galaxy's Edge-centric character, and I think that's why some fans are disappointed that she's leaving. Change is hard, even if you're excited about what's to come.

There have been characters who have come and gone, including Fennec Shand, Sabine Wren, and Luke Skywalker, though Luke will be returning to see his friends Han Solo and Leia Organa next month. So, you never know what can happen!

Disneyland regularly implements changes and updates, resulting in some attractions, characters, and foods being retired. However, I am curious why Vi couldn't have been relocated to the Resistance Camp, where Rey, Chewie, and R2-D2 will be. Perhaps they feel the area is too confined for that many characters, or maybe it came down to choosing fan-favorites. It’s true, Vi is not as recognizable as some of the characters fans have known for a long time, but it’s clear that those who did know her and had the chance to interact with her will miss her. In my social media postings today about this news, many shared their experiences with Vi, two of which I wanted to highlight below.

The good news is, if you're traveling to Batuu East, Vi Moradi should still be there since the timeline expansion isn't affecting that park.

If you have the chance to chat with or spy alongside Vi, be sure to thank her for the conversations and adventures these last seven years. I always had great interactions with Vi. She was a joy to chat with, and it was fun watching her spy on the First Order.

Now the question is whether Boba Fett will also be traveling elsewhere. Time will tell...

What do you think? Will you miss seeing Vi Moradi? You can get in touch with me by leaving a comment below or following me on my social media channels: Instagram, X, Threads or Bluesky.
