The wedding ceremony of Anakin Skywalker and Padme Amidala was a simple but romantic celebration with only their favorite droids, C-3PO and R2-D2, as witnesses. My favorite moment during this scene in Attack of the Clones has always been when Anakin reaches for Padme's hand with his gold mechno-hand. It reminds me of everything they had already been through and the things to come on their new journey as husband and wife. Of course, this moment is made all the more emotional with their theme, Across the Stars, playing in the background.
Padme's dress was so delicate looking which I think is what really made it stand out. I personally have never seen anyone incorporate this dress into their own wedding and I've maybe seen one person cosplay it. One of the reasons might be due to the fact that the original dress was made from a 100 year-old antique bedspread found in an antiques store in Australia by Trisha Biggar. The material was extremely limited so Biggar incorporated it with eleven off-white silk tulle pattern sections. Sandra Fullerton, an embroidery based in Sydney, used her talented team to create over 300 yards of French-knit braid for Cornely scrollwork, which joined and melded the panels. The veil was made of Maltese lace, decorated with Edwardian wax flowers and beaded pearls. Pearls were then sprinkled over both the dress and the veil. This is clearly a one of a kind piece!

The seamstress Nancy who has a background in cosplay has made wearing Padme's wedding dress more of a reality for women across the galaxy. Each gorgeous dress is handmade to order. Nancy uses modern and high quality materials to cut, sew, and create all of the intricate details by hand and offers free customizations. If you're unmarried or have never been a member of a wedding party you might not be aware of just how expensive these alterations can be. I recall mine being a few hundred dollars so this is such an incredible feature!
Nancy suggests ordering at least two months before your wedding, event, or convention you're attending. U.S. orders ship free via USPS Priority Mail (2-3 days with tracking) while International orders have a flat rate of $50 (also shipped USPS Priority Mail at 6-10 days with tracking). This is a fantastic deal considering how much the cost would actually be to ship everything!
Padme's wedding dress is available to order now for $649.99 in a wide range of sizes from X-Small to 4XL. Honestly, when I first heard the news about this upcoming website a few weeks ago I expected the dress to be much more. I think for a handmade item with such care and passion, intricate detail, and free customization it is absolutely worth the price!
