Today, May 26th, marks one year since we were at Star Wars Celebration at the Anaheim Convention Center, and the premiere of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. Although I did share several photos and videos from the event on my social media accounts, I never did share any of that here. So today, I wanted to take a look back at the photos we got from the premiere, and the costumes from the series that they had on display.
We didn't think we were going to make it to see the two-episode premiere until Jason suggested that we check to see if there were any leftover seats from people who might not have shown up. The only way to attend was if you had a specific wristband that was handed out during the Future of Star Wars panel earlier that morning. We checked into one of the stages that were showcasing the series, and they wouldn't let us in. Jason urged me to walk quickly (it was the end of the day, and I was so tired at this point) to try and make it to the other stage across the hall, and I'm so glad he did! We walked in, barely said a word, and a kind staff member handed us two wristbands! I was so shocked and beyond grateful!!! It was an absolute treat being able to watch the first two episodes together at Star Wars Celebration, and among so many fans. I will never forget that night and how I instantly fell in love with the series. Everyone who was there was also given a commemorative poster. I'm obsessed with it!/p>
(I took this photo at the AOTC 20th Anniversary panel.)
(Sadly, this gorgeous lightsaber was not funded and will never be made. I'm glad I got to see it in person. It looked so cool!)
I was introduced to Star Wars by the Original Trilogy at eleven years old and was instantly a fan, but it was the Prequels that really solidified the love I had for Star Wars. So, Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen returning as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader meant the absolute galaxy to me. I can't even explain it. The amount of times I've cried from the moment the series was announced to this very day thinking about it is too many to count. I think Deborah Chow, the cast, the crew, and everyone else who had a part in it did an absolute beautiful job. It was such an emotional and joyous journey getting to see the stories of these characters, old and new, develop in a way I could've never imagined. If you couldn't tell, it's my favorite Disney+ Star Wars series to date!
The day after the premiere, we had the wonderful opportunity of meeting Obi-Wan himself, Ewan McGregor! No matter how many times I look at the photo, I still can't believe it happened! It was a really quick moment. I got to tell him that I was very happy for him, we took the photo, and then we left and I felt as if I were floating on a cloud! What a day! I truly hope we get to meet and get our photo with Hayden Christensen someday too. Darth Vader is my favorite character!
As I stated above, they had the costumes from some of the characters on display for fans to admire and appreciate. I did have to walk through quickly but I hope you enjoy these shots! It was really amazing seeing them in person. There's so much detail!
