I enjoy watching The Game Awards every year. It's a chance to celebrate the games people love, experience some of the games' incredible music live, and learn about upcoming releases. I absolutely didn't expect there to be two Star Wars game announcements! I am truly blown away.
2026 and 2027 are already big years for Star Wars with The Mandalorian and Grogu movie, multiple Disney+ series, Star Wars Celebration in Los Angeles, to name a few. Having at least one of the games added to this mix is fantastic!
First, Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic is a new single-player action RPG from Acranaut Studios and Lucasfilm Games. It's developed by Casey Hudson, who directed the original Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic game. The trailer is nothing short of cinematic, and the realism of the last shot astounded me! I can't wait to see more and learn when this game will be released.
Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic is in early development for PC and consoles according to the press release.
The fate of the galaxy is in your hands in a narrative-driven action RPG where you step into the role of a Force user on a journey through a galaxy on the edge of rebirth. Blending innovative storytelling, memorable characters, and heart-pounding combat, Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic immerses you in an unforgettable experience where every decision deepens your journey toward light or darkness.
The information above comes straight from the Arcanaut Studios website. I recommend reading an exclusive interview with Casey Hudson and VP and GM of Lucasfilm Games Douglas Reilly on the official official Star Wars website, where you can learn more about the game.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer, debuting in 2026, was the final Star Wars game reveal of the night. This game follows a new character named Shade, who Fuse Games co-founder Matt Webster describes as “a lone racer with a dream of glory and revenge”. It looks incredibly fun! I was especially giddy over the podracer sound at the end of the trailer, which I think must mean it’ll be a vehicle of choice in the game!? I’ve always wanted a new version of Star Wars Episode I: Racer (the best N64 game), but I’ll take this!
Star Wars: Galactic Racer will be availabe on PC, PS5 and XBox.
The high-speed teaser shows racers on all types of landspeeders and speederbikes navigating locations like Jakku and Ando Prime.
Players will learn more about Shade as they progress through the game’s campaign. Your aim is to survive long enough to earn your shot at becoming an elite racing pilot,” Webster says. “Our races are high-stakes competitions where racers do everything they can to get to the front in the solo campaign and in our awesome multiplayer gameplay.
It sounds amazing! You can learn even more details about the game from Fuse Games co-founder Matt Webster and VP and GM of Lucasfilm Games Douglas Reilly on the official Star Wars website.
