This was the eighth year of L.A. Comic Con but our very first time attending. The convention was held on October 26-28 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. LACC prides themselves in offering fans the best in comics, gaming, sci-fi, horror, anime and pop-culture material and I can tell you right now that our time there didn't disappoint! The atmosphere at all times felt comfortable and friendly, like everyone was there to share in their passions together as one big happy family. The event was extremely organized and the map made it easy to get to where you wanted to go next. It was crowded but not so much that you couldn't enjoy doing anything. If you can handle a day at Disneyland than this should be no problem for you, although getting food is next to impossible unless you're up for waiting an hour or more in line. Luckily, there are places around in walking distance which is what we ended up doing. This would definitely not prevent my husband or me from going back as we very much enjoyed our experience there.
The exhibitors were some of the best I've seen. I discovered several new artists who create unique and quality-made Star Wars products which I will be sharing with you in an upcoming post next week! Today I want to focus on all of the talented cosplayers that I spotted on the floor. It's an exciting feeling to be walking around and suddenly running into a giant Porg! At a convention this big you just don't know who you'll find next! We stopped to take as many photos as we could to share with you though seeing them in person just can't compare to the shots we captured.
The Prequel era had a strong presence at the convention which was an awesome thing to witness. Alex and her boyfriend Griffin are some of the Star Wars community's best cosplayers. They often show up to events portraying an infamous couple including Han Solo & Qi'ra and Kylo Ren & Rey. On Saturday they were perfectly paired as Anakin and Padme and I couldn't resist a couple of shots of my favorite couple. What cuties!
I'm always excited whenever I see The Clone Wars being represented! Pictured above is Griffin as Anakin, McKenna as Ahsoka, and Joshua as Obi-Wan. The perfect team if I do say so myself! Not only are these three super passionate about what they do but they go the extra mile and are constantly in character, which I think is quite obvious from these photos. My husband and I bumped into Obi-Wan a few times throughout the event to which he casually spoke, "Hello there!", as Obi-Wan would.
There was a Star Wars Cosplay meet-up on Saturday that I made sure to attend! Huge crowds gathered together to witness the group photoshoot and to also attempt taking their own photos of their favorite characters represented by these creative individuals. Among them were two of my friends John as Ima-Gun Di from The Clone Wars and Rei as Rey from The Last Jedi! I'm still kicking myself over not trying harder to get better photos of these two but it was difficult with the amount of people around at the time. Please do yourself a favor and visit them both on Instagram as you won't be disappointed. They are both super kind and they're constantly sharing new cosplays they work extremely diligently on. The quality of their work is astounding!
I think it might be kind of obvious that my husband and I are fans of the Dark Side? We're definitely drawn to those particular cosplays but we were on the look out for ANYONE that stood out to us. If you've never been to a convention like this and you're wanting to see all of the cool costumes I would definitely suggest going to the lobby area periodically throughout the show. You'll definitely see some people walking around the show floor in costume but I've found that a lot of the cosplayers like to hang around in the lobby area (or any other other open space) because it makes it easier to get around and take photos with people.
Which of these cosplays are your favorite? Have you attended LACC before? What did you think? Let me know in a comment below or hit me up on Twitter or Instagram.
Special thanks to: L.A. Comic Con for allowing us to cover the event by offering my husband and me press passes.
