Super Stretch Jegging: American Eagle
Sketchers Shoes: Kohl's
Millenium Falcon Necklace: Amazon

I finally did it. I put some of the patches I've been collecting to good use! When I saw that Abercrombie & Fitch was having a sale I picked up a darling purple denim jacket for $20 and instantly decided it would be my "patch jacket". I wore it for the first time at WonderCon last weekend and I'm excited to share it with you today!

I watched several tutorials on YouTube showing how to iron on patches. I decided that laying a thin piece of fabric (I just used a cotton bandanna) over the patch to iron it on would be a smart move. I know a lot of people place the iron directly over the patch but I didn't feel comfortable doing that and I definitely didn't want to ruin any of the patches. I pressed down firmly with the iron over each patch for up to two minutes occasionally lifting and directing the pressure on all areas of the patch. Everything went smoothly and I only "almost" lost one patch at WonderCon! I think having the strap to my backpack and the strap of my camera over the same shoulder rubbing on the Galaxy's Edge patch all day is what made it become loose. I ordered Fabri-Tac from Amazon per my friend Lyn's suggestion. This fabric glue is a water-proof permanent adhesive so I'm sure it will fix the patch right up!

All of the patches I ironed on and the pins I added to my denim jacket are listed above and not surprisingly all but two of them are Star Wars themed. Obviously I wanted the focus of my outfit to be my accessorized denim jacket so I kept the rest of the pieces I chose to wear quite simple. A soft t-shirt, jeans and walking shoes did the trick! I think it's important to be as comfortable as possible when attending a fan Convention. It's so easy to get tired from all of the excitement that surrounds you and and almost non-stop walking. It can also be chilly inside so it's wise to have an extra layer with you. I actually never took this jacket off. Denim jackets fall in the middle of a thin and thick layer so I felt quite content throughout the entire day.

What do you think of this look? How do you feel about denim jackets and patches? If you know of some you think I would like please share them with me in a comment below!

  2. Looks great! I've been doing a "Battle Jacket" same thing but with band patches but find the glue on the patches doesn't last and I can't see/use a sewing machine so I've resorted to Gorilla glue!

    1. This is good to know. I'll have to keep a close eye on my patches because I would hate to lose them. How has the Gorilla Glue been working out for you? Thanks for reading :)

    2. Gorilla Glue is holding up okay so far but I only did that a couple of weeks back and haven't been to any gigs to give it its ultimate test yet.

  3. This turned out amazing - nice job! I've been looking for a nice denim to put some of my geeky patches on, but I just haven't found anything I like yet.

  4. This is such a good idea. It reminds me of when I was in girl scouts and we used to sew our patches to our uniforms. One year my mom made the girls in my troop book bags to put them on.
