Star Wars Bound: Anakin Skywalker & Queen Amidala

Star Wars Bound: Anakin Skywalker & Queen Amidala | Anakin and His Angel

Today is the 21st anniversary of The Phantom Menace and the 15th anniversary of Revenge of the Sith. To celebrate, I put together a Queen Amidala and Anakin Skywalker look, both of which I'm quite proud of especially because it only took one try to get Anakin's scar and Queen Amidala's makeup the way I wanted it to look. I guess the Force is with me? Since I've always been a "Prequels" girl, I wanted to share with you some short but memorable thoughts I have concerning each of the films we're celebrating today.

The Phantom Menace was what doubled my love for Star Wars. I collected many of the action figures and was completely obsessed with Han Solo. However, after I saw TPM, I transformed my space into a Star Wars themed bedroom, I became much more of a serious collector, and it inspired me to create this blog. I was thirteen years old when I saw TPM so this was very much my Star Wars trilogy to grow up with. I loved Anakin and Padmé (hence my blog's name), the fashion, Obi-Wan, Darth Maul, and pivotal scenes like the lightsaber battle that determined Anakin's fate, and the podracing scene. There were days where I would pop in my VHS copy and watch only those scenes so I could live through the visual and emotional epicness of them all over again. I'll always enjoy watching this movie because it opened up a whole new world of being a Star Wars fan for me.

As for Revenge of the Sith, it's my favorite of the Prequel trilogy. I have a thing for Star Wars content that has an overall darker tone and this one in particular is beautifully tragic. I was so curious about Anakin's story and I felt it completed it in a really dramatic and unexpected way. I think it has the strongest opening of all the films and some of the best scores. This movie wrecked me when I first saw it (I remember I was sat in my seat after it had ended in a puddle of tears) and it has recently become even more of an emotional experience thanks to the added storylines we experienced from Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and the final season of The Clone Wars. I never guessed we would live through Order 66 again but I wouldn't have it any other way.

I hope you like these looks! Most of what I'm wearing can no longer be purchased anymore. However, the Japor Snippet necklace and the Skywalker Lightsaber can both be found at Galaxy's Edge at Dok Ondar's Den of Antiquities. Be sure to follow me on my social media channels as I'll be sharing more photos from this shoot!

How do you feel about the Prequel films? Which is your favorite? Let me know in a comment below or get in touch with me on Instagram or Twitter.

A huge thank you to my friend Ryan for providing the lightsaber effect on my photo of Anakin Skywalker. He's your guy if you want your lightsabers to look even cooler!

  1. The prequels get a lot of hate, but these were the Star Wars movies I grew up watching. Revenge of the Sith, the last hour always messes me up emotionally. It tells Anakin's downfall so well. The duel between Obi Wan and Anakin is easily the best lightsaber fight of all time.

    1. It's so true, though I think they are starting to age better for the people who didn't like them. I also think that their duel is one of the best!

  2. The prequels changed my world. The OT = my kids but I loved all of it. I've been to Naboo 3 times & became friends with the guide used by George when he was selecting locations at Lake Como.
