Always in motion is the future

Today, I'm changing things up here a little and sharing a personal story that I hope might help to inspire or encourage you.

Last year, I was offered a paid position to report on all things Disneyland. I accepted and was super excited to begin a new adventure! However, before even starting, I realized that I would be required to give the outlet first priority on any Star Wars happenings at the park. I immediately knew that I couldn't go forward with this decision because of my role as a Star Wars blogger and social media influencer. What I do means a lot to me and so do all of you and I felt like if I accepted, I'd be placing my blog and all of you second. Besides creating my own content, I've always reported on the latest Star Wars news and have shared my Galaxy's Edge experiences, reviews and stock updates with you and I wasn't about to stop doing that. I've been blogging about Star Wars for almost twenty years now and I enjoy it immensely! I'll be honest, I was a little bummed when I found this out because I wished there was some way that I could do both but I felt 100% confident in my decision and I'm still happy about it.

Sometimes it can seem like something is totally meant to be and then something else happens that makes you question it or you get that deep feeling that it isn't supposed to happen right after that really good feeling. It can be confusing, especially when everything seems to fit so perfectly into place. Instances like this can happen to simply help us to grow or because there's a better option we aren't aware of. Side note: I actually ended up finding out later on that the job wouldn't have been a good fit for me. It wasn't meant to be!

If you find yourself in a situation like I did, some of the things I like to do are pray and reflect on all of my options before making a final decision. You can also talk to someone you trust so that you can share your thoughts and feelings and pros and cons. Verbally discussing something rather than just thinking about it to yourself can bring more clarity to the situation. Then there are other times when I just know what to do immediately, some people like to call this a gut instinct or an intuition of the heart. It also helps to be open to things changing. Having an open mind could prevent you from making a forced decision. I like to think of the quote from Master Yoda, "Always in motion is the future." because many things aren't set in stone. We move from place to place, we're given new opportunities, we explore new hobbies, we gain new insights, we make new friends, etc. We are always growing and life is always changing!

Tell me, have you ever experienced something like this before? What was this outcome? Let me know in a comment below or get in touch with me on Instagram or Twitter.

May the Force be with you!

  1. I give you alot of credit for that decision. And I'm glad it turned out to be very much the right one. I recently had a similar experience where I had an opportunity to have my content published on a small platform. I wasn't familiar with the website or creator, and now days, you have to be careful who you associate with. I had a gut feeling to reach out to others who might be more familiar with the creator and sure enough, I learned the creator did something terrible in the past without remorse. So I got myself out of the situation. The victim was appreciative of me reaching out, doing some research, and taking their side.

    1. Thank you! It really did work out for the best. That's really smart of you to look research the platform that you were asked to publish your work on. I feel like more writers and creators need to be doing that these days, myself included.
