On July 13th, Star Wars: The Bad Batch animated series was officially announced. The series will be coming to Disney+ in 2021. This is the first spin-off series of The Clone Wars. Will it be the only one? I'm sure many fans hope not as there is a deep love for the stories that have been told, the new characters we got to meet and those we got to know more.
The Bad Batch will be executive produced by Dave Filoni (The Mandalorian,The Clone Wars), Athena Portillo (The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels), Brad Rau (Star Wars Rebels, Star Wars Resistance) and Jennifer Corbett (Star Wars Resistance, NCIS) with Carrie Beck (The Mandalorian, Star Wars Rebels) as co-executive producer and Josh Rimes as producer (Star Wars Resistance). Rau is also serving as supervising director with Corbett as head writer.
I'm very excited about this series because I had expected to see the elite Clone Troopers somehow involved in the finale of The Clone Wars and was realy surprised when they didn't show up. I just knew that there had to be more stories to tell that involved Clone Force 99 (aka as the Bad Batch), especially because their arc had ended with Echo deciding to join Hunter, Wrecker, Crosshair, and Tech after being rescued by them. I love their unique abilities and personalities. I hope we get to explore what their reactions were to the events of Order 66. The series takes place following immediately after the aftermath of the Clone Wars. Will we see discussions had between them about Order 66? Will we see flashbacks of their involvement during that time? I'd like to see the series open up on a heavy note and I think allowing the characters to acknowledge what happened would be a strong way to start the series off.
My favorite character from the Bad Batch is Hunter. He's the leader of the bunch, Clone Sergeant to be exact, with enhanced sensory abilities. My plan is to put together a "Bound" representing his full armor. I don't know if this is something I'd like to complete before the end of the year or in celebration of the launch of the series next year, but I was so excited about the announcement, that I styled an outfit around the character. Because that's just what I do.
I picked up the official Bad Batch Logo T-shirt from Her Universe. This particular t-shirt is in a woman's cut but there are other options available as well. Hunter has a black tattoo on his face so I thought a black lipstick would suffice. I've never owned a black lipstick before and I kind of love it? I also made my own Hunter bandana! I purchased a red bandana from Amazon for just under $8. It's so soft, stretchy, and incredibly comfortable to wear. I had previously purchased a green one for my Baby Yoda Bound so I knew this one would would perfectly. I was really scared to paint the skull symbol but I got through it, hands shaking and all, and I feel really proud of it. Is it perfect? No. But, I think it looks super cool. I'd like to make a few small changes to it when I finish the Bound because after I completed it, I happened upon a clearer shot of the logo. As for the paint, I only bought black and white and mixed the two together to get the grey color. I cut a fine tip on a basic foam sponge to blot the grey on after the white was completely dry but before I added the black details.
