DIY: Qi'ra's Manicure

As silly as it may sound to some of you one of the very first things that stood out to me in Solo: A Star Wars Story was Qi'ra's nail polish. It's a rare occurrence to see anyone in the Star Wars universe rocking an eye catching manicure. There aren't many who are as cool or fashion forward as Qi'ra though so it makes sense that she would be rocking some killer nails!

I thought it would be fun to explore a DIY (Do It Yourself) for this look because it's just one of those manicures that can work for multiple occasions and it would obviously be perfect for any Qi'ra Cosplayers out there. So, if you're interested in having what I call, the Galaxy at your fingertips, continue reading because it's easier to achieve this manicure than you think!

The first thing you'll need is black nail polish. I chose the Colorstay Longwear Nail Enamel in the shade Stiletto by Revlon because I've had multiple great experiences with this polish lasting about 7 days straight with little to no chipping. The longer it lasts the better because removing nail polish is one of my least favorite things to do. I'm not kidding! If you've never tried this brand of nail polish before I think you'll be pleasantly surprised! It goes on well and the shape of the brush makes it easy to place the polish where it should go. For this step I applied one coat. A second coat might be necessary depending on what kind of coverage you want but I'm not a fan of too many layers. Be sure to let your nails dry before going on to the next step!

Secondly, you're going to need a nail polish with bits of white flecks or glitter in it to recreate the proper speckled appearance. I found that Maybelline's Clearly Spotted from their Polka Dot collection to be absolutely perfect! I've owned this since it first released in 2013 (this product now seems to only be available online) and nearly forgot about how unique it is! I dabbed a small amount on each finger until I was satisfied with the results.

Tip: This polish by KiaraSky would be a great alternative!

Lastly, I added a top coat by Sinful Colors. I don't always finish off my manicure's with this step but I wanted to make this look last as long as possible! Star Wars fans may recognize your manicure or they might just think you really like space which is just as awesome.

  1. Loving this look! :D Dark nails are a fave but I can never seem to get them right so I'll keep an eye out for the products you used (Amazon won't ship nail stuff here). Great that you only needed one coat of the Revlon too!

    1. Aww, thanks so much! I like dark nails to but often times choose to go light because they're easier to do. I hope you're able to find the nail polish somewhere in a store near you or from a different online shop!
