Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge - Purchasing Extra Scrap Metal at Savi's Workshop

Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge - Purchasing Extra

*A new rule has been implemented since I wrote this post. Unfortunately, guests are no longer able to purchase extra scrap metal.

It seems as each day goes by I learn something new about Galaxy's Edge! Earlier this afternoon an insider revealed to me that "Scrap Metal" (aka lightsaber parts) is currently being sold separately from all four lightsaber sets (pictured below) at Dok Ondar's Den of Antiquities for $20 a piece (this does not include the chassis).

Fans will be happy to know that you don't need the required reservation to build a lightsaber to purchase extra scrap metal. You can view each piece of scrap metal at Savi's Workshop and then head next door to Dok Ondar's Den of Antiquities to make your purchase. If the Cast Members don't know what you're talking about, request to speak to a manager. That is what this particular individual did and the manager told them to spread the word and that the pieces would be for sale until further notice.

Pictured above is a receipt showcasing the charge for two extra lightsaber pieces during one of the trips this individual made. I would suggest that if this interests you at all, to get on it quick because there is no telling how long this will be allowed for. With Galaxy's Edge already going through some changes and being sold out of highly sought after items (kyber crystals anyone?), it would be better to be safe than sorry. There are also rumors that the overall price of building a lightsaber ($200) may go up.

The manager also explained that for an initial build you can buy some out of your set pieces a la carte and they’ll give you the extra parts you replaced on your way out.

This will allow for even more options for your hilt as you can mix and match pieces from any set. Please let me know of your experience if you try this and email me pictures of your customized lightsaber!

If you missed it, I talked about my own lightsaber making experience at Savi's on this blog post.

  1. This is a kind of unrelated question, but do you know if the lightsaber blades can be removed once you finish your build so that you can rock the hilt on your belt like a true nerd?
