The Star Wars Archives (1999–2005): Anakin Skywalker & Padmé Amidala | Anakin and His Angel

Today I am excited to share several new behind-the-scenes shots from The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones featuring Hayden Christensen, Jake Lloyd, and Natalie Portman alongside their co-stars and even the maker himself, George Lucas. These photographs were taken from the newly released title, The Star Wars Archives (1999-2005) written by Paul Duncan. I do not own this masterpiece but as Anakin says, "I would certainly like to." If you're curious, I was told there were no new shots of our favorite star-crossed couple from Revenge of the Sith in this book.

Made with the full cooperation of George Lucas and Lucasfilm, this second volume covers the making of the prequel trilogy ― Episode I The Phantom Menance, Episode II Attack of the Clones, and Episode III Revenge of the Sith ― and features exclusive interviews with Lucas and his collaborators. The book is profusely illustrated with script pages, production documents, concept art, storyboards, on-set photography, stills, and posters.

All but one of these photographs were sent to me by Mandeep Badhesha. The photo above was submitted by Brittany Barnim. I would like to take this time to thank them both for being so kind as to share these rare photographs with me to share with all of you. I love that after so many years, we still get to see surprises from the Prequel films.

Tell me, which one of these is your favorite? I personally love the one of George and Natalie and the one of Hayden and Natalie on Naboo in the grass. They both make me so happy! Leave a comment below or get in touch with me on Instagram or Twitter

  1. I love the one of Keira and Natalie smiling together. Can really see their resemblance in that picture, and their smiles are just so beautiful.
