It's been one day since we found out that Daisy Ridley is returning as JEDI MASTER REY SKYWALKER in a new Star Wars movie directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. The announcement was made during the Lucasfilm Studio Showcase at Star Wars Celebration Europe. The movie will be about Rey building a New Jedi Order 15 years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker! Rey is one of my favorite characters and means the galaxy to me, so I've been hoping for this announcement for a long time! Through tears, I stumbled over my words in reading the announcement to my husband. Ever since Daisy Ridley posted on her Instagram that she recently visited Lucasfilm, I've had a strong feeling, maybe it was the Force, that it was actually going to happen, and here we are! There are a few thoughts I have when thinking about this film and I thought I'd share them with you today.
1. I think the very first thing that I thought of is the fact that we're going to see her yellow-bladed lightsaber in action for the first time! I was an instant fan, as I know so many others were, after seeing that quick shot of it in The Rise of Skywalker. It's not only a gorgeous color but, in my opinion, has one of the coolest ignigtion switches on a lightsaber. It also has a very beautiful and distinct sound!
2. Throughout the Sequel Trilogy, Rey's outfits and hairdo didn't change drastically. I'm curious to see whether her garments/hair will get a little bit of an update OR if she'll have an entirely new look. Will she also don a traditional Jedi robe? I'd love that! I think a cream-colored robe would look amazing on her.
3. I think that there’s a very real possibility we could see Grogu in this film. As my friend, Johnny Hoey pointed out, Grogu will be 91 years old when this movie comes out (it takes place 15 years after the events of TROS). For context, Yoda started training Jedi when he was 100. I can just imagine Rey and Grogu's interactions. It would be so pure!
4. I desperately want to see Rey interact with Force Ghost Ben Solo. Given their history together, being a Dyad and all, I think it makes absolute sense to happen and that it would serve the story very well. I know I'm not alone in wanting more Ben Solo content as our time with him was too short. I also think that we could see Force Ghost Luke and Leia. Rey is a Skywalker because of them and their guidance and training after all!
5. Finn and Poe were very close with Rey, so I think that it would only make sense for them to be part of it if their actors wish to return. And please, for the love of the Force, give Finn a lightsaber!

I am beyond thrilled that we get to see more stories with Rey! I totally agree I real hope Finn is a Jedi. I am so intrigued to see what her school will be like. I keep thinking someone somewhere may be sitting down to right the script and I cannot wait to see it!
